Our orchid hunting grounds were at several different sites. First noted is the disused limestone quarry at Long Itchington, Warwickshire (Lat 52° 28' N, 1° 38' W) which was the home of Platanthera chlorantha (Fig. 1), Dactylorhiza fuchsii and Dactylorhiza maculata subspecies ericetorum, Neottia ovata (Fig. 2), 11 miles S of Coventry.
